All the world's a stage

Write alot

I'm a human dreaming of being human. I want to write and yet it is so much easier to want to write and then make up a reason that I should build an application first before doing writing.

Is it ego? Is it fear? Does it matter?

Here is an attempt.

I need formulas and one that I think I've settled on is who, what, where, when and how. I'll try to answer these for some thing or another to add some coherency or otherwise everything is going to be a rambling like this post itself.

I also don't want to write about writing. The metablogging is fun and I get suckered into it often but I also think that's not what I want to actually read. I want to be inspired, I want to be pushed. I saw one writing blog about their hiking in Switzerland and that is on my list. I tried to go that specific place last year and failed. I'm going to try again this year.

I want to read about experiences and so I'm going to try to make this blog about my experiences. I don't know if I'll fully succeed the Blaugust Challenge but one can dream.

Did you know that "alot" is not a real word?

The post title has a red squiggle underneath and I started looking into it. I had always believed alot was one word but it really is "a lot". How strange. So my title should really be "Write a Lot" or maybe "Write A Lot". The second feels weirder and the first is correct but doesn't look right to me.

Seeing uppercase Lot reads to me as the biblical Lot that was warned by god that has cities were going to burn down.

I also learned that the word lot comes from the old English word hlot, which was used to give out shares. You would put your name or stick in a hat and the first to fall out would get the share. Lottery, drawing lots, lot size, all of it traces back to this core idea.

Interesting isn't it. The world is so big and so detailed, in the middle of writing this I realized I could go infinitely deeper into each thing. I love it.
